Reviving SUV Market: Zeekr's Obsession with "Hit" Dream
This year, Zeekr, which has been constantly making moves on the product front, has once again released something new.
On September 20th, Zeekr's new SUV model, the Zeekr 7X, was officially launched.
Zeekr's CEO, An Conghui, stated frankly that he hopes it will become a "hit" in the SUV sector.
At the launch event, three versions of the Zeekr 7X were introduced, with prices ranging from 229,900 yuan to 269,900 yuan.
An Conghui admitted that in his 28 years with Geely, he has participated in the pricing of many new models, and this time, the pricing of the Zeekr 7X was the most difficult because the fierce market environment does not allow Zeekr to make any mistakes.
In the 20 days since its debut at the Chengdu Auto Show, the Zeekr 7X has received over 58,000 pre-sale orders, with an average of 2,921 new orders added daily.
Now, the starting price of the new car has been reduced by another 10,000 yuan compared to the pre-sale price.
An Conghui said, "Considering the expectations of users and the competitive market environment, we have finally determined today's price.
We believe it is reasonable and competitive, and it can also be recognized by a wide range of users and consumers."
Regarding the sales expectations for the Zeekr 7X, An Conghui told reporters from the "International Finance News" after the meeting that the goal of the Zeekr 7X is to become a benchmark in the pure electric SUV segment.
In Zeekr's view, whether it can become a "hit" in the segment determines the success or failure of the car, and the pursuit of a "hit" has long been deeply engraved in Zeekr's "DNA".
Since its establishment, Zeekr has been pursuing "hits" in various segments, including the Zeekr 001 in the hunting car segment, the Zeekr 009 in the luxury MPV segment, and the Zeekr 007 in the mid-to-large sedan segment.
These three models have strong competitiveness in their respective segments.
However, in the SUV market, Zeekr has not yet "succeeded".
The Zeekr X, which was launched in April last year, did not become a "hit" in this field, and due to its compact space and high pricing of 180,000 yuan, it was not accepted by the current market.
In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative sales of the Zeekr X were only 5,539 units, with an average monthly sales of less than 700 units.
To this end, the Zeekr 7X has taken over the company's dream of creating a "hit" in the SUV track.
From various product data, the Zeekr 7X has the potential to become a "hit".
The Zeekr 7X has a length, width, and height of 4,825mm, 1,930mm, and 1,656mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,925mm, surpassing most models in the same class, including the Model Y and Xiaopeng G6.
At the same time, due to the exterior design not adopting a fastback design, it has achieved a room utilization rate of 83.34%.
In terms of safety, An Conghui called the Zeekr 7X a "highway tank".
The new car uses a "dome armor body" safety structure design, and comes standard with seven airbags.
In terms of intelligence, the Zeekr 7X uses the ZEEKR AI OS smart cockpit and the vast intelligent driving 2.0, which is Zeekr's latest intelligent technology.
In terms of power, Zeekr comes standard with an 800V high-voltage platform and a high-performance silicon carbide electric drive system, providing two types of power, a single motor and a dual motor.
The dual motor version has a maximum power of 475kW, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds.
If the Zeekr 7X is successful, it will help Zeekr's overall delivery volume to reach a new level.
In the first eight months of this year, Zeekr delivered a total of 121,500 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 81%.
However, the company's annual delivery target for this year is 230,000 vehicles, and the current completion rate is only 52.8%.
In this regard, An Conghui said that this goal is challenging, but Zeekr still has confidence.
At the same time, he believes that Zeekr is the pure electric brand that is expected to be profitable earliest after Tesla, and he is confident that the goal of achieving a 15% gross profit margin for the whole year's vehicles this year will be achieved.
The success of a new product depends not only on the order volume, but also on the delivery performance.
In the past, many new cars have missed the heat and been forgotten by the market due to slow production capacity and unsmooth delivery.
In this regard, Lin Jinwen, vice president of Zeekr, said that Zeekr has a strong supply chain and production delivery system capability.
"Unlike other competitors, Zeekr 7X has produced a batch of 'selected' models very early, and delivery has started after the launch.
There are only 10 days left in September, but it is conservatively estimated that there will be about 3,000 deliveries."
He added that starting in October, the production ramp-up of the Zeekr 7X will accelerate, and it is a must to achieve a delivery volume of five digits by the end of this year.
According to this calculation, while ensuring the current delivery volume, with the delivery ramp-up of the Zeekr 7X, it will break through 20,000 deliveries in a single month in September, and with the Zeekr MIX that will be launched in the fourth quarter, the company's overall delivery volume may increase significantly.
After the first SUV "bumped into a wall", the Zeekr 7X cannot afford any mistakes.
Whether it can become the SUV "hit" in An Conghui's mouth and help the company's delivery volume reach a new high depends on its actual delivery performance in the future.
